The compact and lightweight LEICA SF20 allows TTL-flash exposure control with the LEICA R8 or R9 as well as the LEICA M6 or M7 TTL-models plus automatic flash exposure control with all other LEICA M and R cameras with central X hot-shoe contact.
All neccessary information such as film speed, aperture and distance is available in the LCD which can be illuminated on demand. Thanks to the two longlife Lithium batteries CR 123 a very compact design, fast recharging times, and a high number of flashes could be realised. In the TTL- and A-modes the flash indicator in the viewfinders of the LEICA R8, R9 and the LEICA M6 or M7 TTL-models enables the photographer to check the correct flash exposure immediately. Leica photographers' creative ambitions are satisfied by the option to utilize the flash exposure compensation feature. In the TTL- and A-modes corrections of +/- 3 EV and 0 to -3 EV respectively are possible.
The Leica SF 24D flash unit is fit for both digital and analog photography. Due to its compact design, the flash unit is very handy and always ready to use. Still, it provides a maximum distance between the flash reflector and the camera lens. As a result, the risk of red eye when photographing people and animals is radically reduced.
With this compact flash unit, optimal performance and comfort can be achieved with several Leica cameras. It is the perfect match for the Leica M9, M8, M8.2, M7, M6 TTL and – of course – the new Leica M. The ISO film speed range of the Leica SF 24D flash units extends from 12 to 3600 in M/TTL range and from 25 to 800 in A mode. The illumination angle corresponds to a focal length range of 35 to 85 mm, and can be extended with the two supplied reflectors. Thus flash exposure with wide-angle lenses down to 24 mm and telephoto lenses up to 135 mm focal length are made possible.
